Thanksgiving offers a great opportunity for preschoolers to practice gratitude and participate in a special day. Here are just a few easy ideas.
Gratitude Tree or Garland
Cut paper leaves (for a tree) or strips (for a garland). Each person writes or draws something they’re thankful for. Then assemble the leaves or strips.
Place Cards
Make a special place card for each guest at Thanksgiving dinner.
Kindness Countdown
Throughout the week of Thanksgiving, do one small action a day: share toys, donate a can, set the table, call someone you love.
Thank-You Postcards
Invite your child to “write” or draw a note to a teacher, grandparent, neighbor, mail carrier, or firefighter.
Read & Reflect
Choose stories about sharing, community, and feelings. Pause to ask: “How did the characters help each other?” “What are you thankful for?”
Placemat Art
Decorate paper placemats with handprints or stickers. Laminating (or clear tape) turns them into keepsakes.
